The words and clues you type
The crossword maker runs entirely in your web browser. The title, words, clues and hidden solution word you type are laid out into a grid on your device and are not sent to our servers or to anyone else. Printing, the PDF and the PNG images are produced in your browser as well, and the files are saved straight to your device.
We do not keep a copy of your puzzles anywhere. We cannot see them, and we could not recover one for you if it were lost.
What is stored in your browser
The site keeps three things in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us. First, a draft of the crossword you are working on: its title, words, clues, hidden word and options. It is saved shortly after your first change, so the puzzle is still there when you come back, and it is removed when you empty the editor. The example words a page opens with are not saved unless you change them.
Second, a note that you have seen or skipped the short tour shown on your first visit, so it does not appear again. Third, the language you chose in the language menu or in the notice that offers your browser's language, so that the main address opens in that language next time.
You can remove all three at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Nothing else is stored, and none of it is shared with anyone.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It does not use cookies or local storage, and Cloudflare states that it does not fingerprint visitors or track them across websites. What we see is aggregated information such as page views, referring websites, countries and browser or device types.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details when it delivers pages to you, in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare's own privacy policy describes how it handles that data.
Cookies and accounts
This site does not set cookies, does not offer user accounts and never asks for your name, email address or any other personal information to make a puzzle.
If you contact us
If you send us an email, for example to ask a question or to report content that you believe breaks our terms of use, we receive your email address and whatever your message contains. We use them only to answer you and to deal with your report, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message with anyone else.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles data changes, for example because a new feature is added, we will update this page before the change takes effect. This policy was last updated in October 2026.
